Recently I found out that McAfee's VirusScan Enterprise v8.7i was having a problem with BSOD issues on the rootkit scan, when doing an On Demand Scan. This seems to be a problem with the new scan engine, which was changed between 8.5 and 8.7 to improve the scanning, but in this, it seems to be touching areas it shouldn't. This ultimately should be fixed soon, from what I have seen, but the patch is currently only available directly from McAfee if you call and ask for it. So Call!
